Joint Venture: New construction affordable and supportive housing with large solar PV array
CHV partnered with Hudson Companies and Related to develop Gateway Elton I, a multi-building new development featuring affordable apartments, ground-floor retail, and community facility space that serves as the neighborhood center of NYC’s ambitious Gateway Elton Street community. The $68 million development is part of the City’s Fresh Creek Urban Renewal Plan and this phase consists of 197 low-income rental apartments with 9,000 square feet of commercial space in 4 five- and six-story buildings. Additionally, 40 homes are set aside for scattered site supportive housing for individuals transitioning to independent living from institutions operated by the New York State Office of Mental Health (NYSOMH), with rent and case management support provided by NYSOMH.
Gateway Elton I is energy efficient with a 214,000-watt solar power system. This system allows the development to offset 300,000 pounds of carbon dioxide every year.
